Excellent service and meal. Would definitely return if we are in the area again.

This is my second time here, and we sat in the back section and it was on the louder side assuming because there was some parties back there but all in all it was a good experience, great food and the wait staff was not bad either. Only wish is that we sat somewhere else, and out waitress towards the end forgot about or table.

We found the restaurant to be less than enjoyable. They appear to have poor management. Making a reservation seems to be a waste of time, having to wait more than 20 minutes for a table seems to be inappropriate. Their serve staff though amiable were less than efficient. Waiting for a drink order for 15+ minutes was problematic! We found the good eatable but nothing to rave about. No plans to return ever!!!

Interesting location. Food was average but our waitress was very pleasant.

My husband and I come here periodically and we just brought our Canadian friend here for its historical charm and it was a hit. The menu is great for all palates and the prices are a great value (especially for the lure of its history). FYI-while chatting with a coworker about our weekends this morning, she said that she & her mother went here Saturday both for the 1st time. She said the mgmt went out of their way to accomodate her mother's seating needs (couldn't take stairs and has a hard time at high-top tables). They were very pleased about that and they both thoroughly enjoyed their meals.

Great food, service, and ambiance. A neat woody tavern feel. Excellent menu choices. Food was we'll prepared and tasty. Service was quick, attentive and spot on. Will return soon.

Don't get the fish and chips!!!!! Two people at my table ordered them and they were not edible.

Wasn’t expecting to be seated with a private party on the second floor when I made made the reservation with so much notice before the date. I feel as if I should have been notified and had the opportunity to change my time if there were no other tables available on the first floor for a party of 8. I had four children that had to make the steps.
by EllenM on March 31, 2018
Food was ok as was service. There was a lot of noise from the servers going in and out of the kitchen, which was right behind our table.
by PatD on March 31, 2018
Food was very good. Nice children's menu, which helps! Only "issue" was the order the food came out. One diner ordered soup and salad and no entrée. He was asked if he would like his salad first, which he said yes to. But soup came out at entrée time, then salad. Another diner also received his salad with his dinner. Things just seemed a little out of order. Otherwise food was great and would go again.

Friendly but slow service. Good food

Our waitress was friendly and answer all our questions. My only complaint was my club sandwich was dry. I asked for plain mayo along with my friend and got it. My other friend ordered the short rib grilled cheese and raved about it. Our waitress again recommend it. Good job!

Our server, Mike, was awesome. Very attentive, polite, and professional. Very knowledgeable!!
by JamesK on March 20, 2018
Food was good Drinks were good Beer selection is good and diverse. Our waitress, Olivia was fantastic (among the best). The restaurant overall continues to struggle with staff so the quality of service tends to be hit or miss. Hopefully they will invest in more consistency.

I made reservations to have a special dinner with my significant other 2 nights ago. Arrived at 7:04 for a 7:15 reservation. We were told to have a seat at the bar until our table was ready. So we did. 5 mins later we were seated. After being seated at 7:10 we did not receive a server at this time it was 7:28 and I went back to the hostess who sent a server over. He took our appetizer order. It came out we got calamari and it was wonderful. Again didn’t see the server another 10 mins. Finally he came back after we flagged him down and placed our order. We got our food and ate. Another 30 mins go by no waiter. Finally he comes back and we get the check. He double charged us for 2 beers we had purchased from the bar before we were seated. Why would you just charge me for beers and not assume I paid for them as they were half gone when we sat down. Completely horrible service and I heard nothing but great things. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere but the worst service I have ever had. He charged my card then had to cancel and redo for charging me for beers he never gave us and clearly we wouldn’t leave the bar and not pay for them. So so very disappointed.

Family night out for a casual dinner, adults and kids had a good meal. Perfect relaxed, stress free dining close to home.
by OpenTable Diner on March 16, 2018
Michael was great, service and food was excellent. I've been here before and I will come again.

The cedar plank salmon was the best I’ve ever had. It was cooked to perfection with a little crispy edges. It cane with string beans and sliced red skinned potatoes. Those were also delicious and cooked perfectly. Best meal I’ve had in a long time out. Great, friendly service and huge beer selection. The restaurant is nicely decorated and is you are a revolutionary war buff it has a lot of history.

Cool place inside. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was not so good.
by AnnemarieL on March 03, 2018
Food was awesome. We were seated in the room opposite the bar. Noise was deafening. And we seemed to be on a service path of kitchen to bar to larger room. Our waitress was inattentive and failed to bring oil and vinegar that we asked for. She also brought the wrong salad dressing. We asked two separate waitstaff for assistance since she was MIA. Someone else delivered the check and rang us up.

Busy. Very Loud. Mussels were marginal. $16 Burger was good. Wine selection is standard. Would meet a friend there again but probably not go again otherwise. Service was mediocre. Server was good food runners were confused. It was Very busy and I've heard the bar is the best bet.

We went there for brunch. We had previously been there for dinner. Dinner was much better than the Sunday Brunch.

I have enjoyed this venue for both business & personal activities.

Excellent food and as usual great service

Although this is one of our favorite go-tos, we had picky family in town and decided to take them there. They all found something on the menu they liked and were very happy with the food and atmosphere. It was great success! I love this restaurant!

Cedar salmon perfectly cooked as usual. Strip steak good beer choices fine. Accommodating to doing the Brussels sprouts without bacon on friday in lent. A very good neighborhood place

We were in for lunch, celebrating news of a recent promotion at work. The short rib grilled cheese is one of the best items on the menu. The tavern club looked wonderful as well. Olivia is a great server! Excellent spot for lunch or dinner.
by CharlesR on February 14, 2018
Great food and service. The salmon was perfect cooked. Our sever Alice was friendly and attentive.

I had the salmon, my wife had a steak. Both were excellent. Draft beer was excellent. It's a fun place, kind of noisy, lots of TV's. We'll go again.
by OpenTable Diner on February 10, 2018
This was our third or fourth time there (we are from MA) and it never disappoints! The menu is so creative, the portions are big and the atmosphere is comfortable and clean. I look forward to my next visit there.

I had been here a couple of times, for lunch, in the past few month, and was very happy with the food. I thought the angus burger was one of the best around, and told my dining companion about it. That's why we get a good burger for dinner. I ordered mine med well, and he ordered medium. They both arrived so well done, that they were actually dry in the center. Maybe it was a new chef, or maybe the daytime person is just better at it. In any event, it was a disappointment. Also, the caesar salad dressing could have benefited from an anchovy. The server was very good!

I came here before, food was always good but for some reason the food at that night was not as good as before. Might be a busy Friday night? Cheesy fry stuffs were heavier than I thought. Other than that the service was good and the atmosphere was good as well.

Great tavern food. Our waiter Tom was attentive and provided quality service. We will definitely be back!
by OpenTable Diner on February 03, 2018
Food and Beer list are great! Sometimes it’s so busy that service takes a hit but everything else is so great it’s worth it!
by Grossman on February 03, 2018
Good food as always. A very busy saturday night but reservation was honored on time and service was just fine despite the full house.
by EADL on February 03, 2018
Love the round tables for parties of 6! Being able to see and talk with all is great, although it was rather crowded and noisy on a Saturday evening to hear all the conversation at the table. Good options and everyone in the group seemed to enjoy what they ordered.

Date night, great place to grab a bite to eat before heading to a comedy club. The Ahi Tuna special was amazing and the side of Brussels sprouts with bacon, Yum Yum.
by MarilynM on February 01, 2018
Always good food and many great choices. A great place to meet friends for lunch or dinner. Parking lot is not very big so can be a problem at times.
by OpenTable Diner on January 31, 2018
Took my team to lunch. Our server was fabulous!- great recommendations, very attentive, and super friendly. Everyone loved their lunch: the foodie enjoyed the eggplant soup and shrimp salad sandwich, I enjoyed the smoked salmon blt, the Italian burger was raved about, and the club hit the spot. This place can always be depended on for delicious food.
by malvmom on January 30, 2018
This is a great place for a business lunch. There is plenty of parking and plenty of room inside for multiple parties. The menu is diverse enough to satisfy many different tastes, and the prices are reasonable.

Black Powder is now a go to place for me and several friends for happy hours that are superb and evening casual dinner. It's a great pub with a good bar area that's a little small so get there early. It get's crowded and the noise bounces off the walls and hardwood floors, but on the whole, it's a good atmosphere. The happy hour menu is great and they have some interesting apps. The regular menu has something for everyone including salads, pot pie, fish and chips, burgers, and more substantive entrees if you need a steak. Lots of craft beers, Boddingtons on draft with nitro is a find, and then there's a good Guinness pour. Wine list is ok. Good service for the most part.

I was more than pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service, the comfort and spaciousness of our booth and the lively but not overwhelmingly noisy dining area. The food was absolutely delicious, from the butternut squash soup to my perfectly cooked and seasoned hangar steak. Nice dessert menu, wide range of beer and cocktails, friendly and professional service and very reasonably priced. The patrons ranged from families with small children to older couples out for a nice neighborhood dinner... we are not from the neighborhood and I would definitely go again whenever we are in the area. Five minutes from king of Prussia mall and well worth the ride for anyone who needs an excellent meal.

Hadn’t been in a while. Everyone’s entrees were good. Delicious appetizers. Good beer. Good service.
by OpenTable Diner on January 26, 2018
Awesome food and service!! The mac and cheese is my favorite, I get it every time. Waiters are great and attentive, also very knowledgeable about the menu. The only thing we did not really enjoy were the desserts, creme brulee and bread pudding.
by OpenTable Diner on January 25, 2018
Good food, nice atmosphere, good service but a bit noisy
by OpenTable Diner on January 19, 2018
Excellent food and prompt service, very appropriate before an evening at the theater. Parking space is more limited than we are used to for self parking. Valet service is available.
