This is a great deal for such a lovely buffet brunch. Usually leaves you stuffed! I am glad to see they are offering smaller desserts so you can try more.

Good place. My steak was excellent, although the asparagus was a bit overdone. Patrick -- our server -- was superb, and a lot of fun as well. We had a party of five and all were happy with the experience.

We were seated right away, even though we were 30 minutes early for our reservations. Wait staff brought water but made us wait a little long to place our order. Food took over 30 minutes to arrive. With no ‘check-in’ from the wait staff with an estimate of when food would come to the table. The chicken sandwiches were not hot enough, but we ate them anyway without making a formal complaint. The total cost was reasonable, the ambience was good and the soup was delicious.

Fantastic restaurant. Great old place with character, and at a reasonable price. Their Tortellini Bolognese is the best Italian dish I've ever had outside an Italian restaurant, and they should put their vegetable soup on that menu every day. Great job!

Food is always good here. Creative menu but nothing too fancy. It's a little expensive for a casual meal so we don't go all that often. But when we do go, the food is almost always very tasty. Nice craft beer selection on draft and bottles. Lots of wine and whiskey choices if that's your thing. Again, everything is on the expensive side of things so keep that in mind. Service is typically fast and courteous.

We enjoyed the appetizer with gorgonzola stuffed dates and the chicken pot pie. Staff was attentive.

What a fantastic experience! First time here and would go back again and again. Great vegetarian options, loved the cauliflower steak! The Poutine gives Canada a run for its money. Perfectly executed. The bar area was lively and fun. The entire restaurant was clean and friendly, definitely a go to!

The food and atmosphere were fine. Unfortunately our server was not very friendly, all business, and for that reason we will not go back.

We enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Black Powder Tavern. They have an excellent selection of beers on tap, and the appetizers were great. The only downer for us was that the entrees were not done as well as they were on previous visits -- the steak was just a bit tough, and the salmon a bit overcooked -- but I've also had these same items on earlier visits and they were done to perfection, so we'll excuse the off-day. Desserts were delicious too. Overall I give them 4 stars.

Food was disappointing. "Roasted cauliflower steak" was a big chunk of cauliflower, not a steak, and not roasted, but almost raw. I've cooked this at home to better effect. Fish and chips were good - fish was light, but the slaw with it tasted like cabbage with mayonnaise (which, of course, it is, but it could have been seasoned to make it tastier). Went here because it is supposedly a historic tavern, but there are many televisions over the bar and hard rock music playing; the historic significance of the place is lost in the modern setting. The older part of the tavern is unimpressive; perhaps it was updated at some point; looks like the rest of the place. Server, Sean, was lovely, but everything else was poor to average.

This restaurant is generally very good, but as with this visit, service is often slow and a bit inattentive. We spent nearly 90 minutes for a two-person meal that should have taken far less time, with a waiter who disappeared for stretches. Their French onion soup remains excellent, and our other food was fine, but not as good as prior visits.

Great service, great tavern food, nice atmosphere. We went for a casual dinner before a show elsewhere. Nice experience.

Nice atmosphere, clean and inviting. Service is efficient and friendly. Very good menu choices. Food was fresh hot and tasty. Good manager making sure everything in the dining room was up to par. This was my first time her, and I will be returning.

Stellar food and great service! The Poutine, Cajun Mac n Cheese and the Toll House Pie are to die for! The margaritas were tasty as well!

This is our neighborhood go to place. The standard menu has great salad options, wonderful hamburgers, and good comfort food, and the specials are always unexpected delights such has a grilled watermelon and shrimp salad perfect for a hot summer day. We have also done brunch here and there are made to order omelets, carving station, and all the other items required for a great brunch. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone.

My first visit to the restaurant was what I hoped. The staff were pleasant and efficient. The food was nicely prepared.

This particular day (a Friday at 5:00) there were a lot of kids running around. I think there was some sort of party/gathering for a number of families. It's more of a bar type place with booths and tables and a large bar. A so-so menu for me. The waiter was friendly and attentive. First visit, and nothing that would draw me back.

Food is always good. Seems like every time we are there the service is very very slow. Understaffed. Ruins the whole experience.
by CatherineW on August 21, 2018
The food was delicious and the ambiance is very welcoming
by pubcrawlers on August 16, 2018
The space is a bit noisy and one patron in particular had a piercing, annoying voice and laugh that could have been addressed by management, but the food, Eric’s service, the authenticity of the 18th-c. venue, and the robust draft beer list win out for a strong experience and a top recommendation (if “she’s” not there...).
by RoccoI on August 16, 2018
Great place! There was ample parking, service and food was great!

Great service and good food. Would definitely come here again and would recommend to others.

Always a great dining experience. The food is always fresh and tasty.

My friend had I think it was short ribs or brisket. Not sure but he said, "it's a keeper, we have to come back again". I normally don't eat meat but tried it and I would order it next time. Sean, our waiter was the best. Thorough, attentive and great personality. Sean's a keeper too.
by JimmyM on July 27, 2018
Went specifically for their beer battered fish and chips. Couldn't taste the beer in the batter. Also the oil wasn't hot enough when they cooked the fish so the batter wasn't crispy.
by OpenTable Diner on July 25, 2018
Noah was an excellent server, attending to our every need. The food, as always, was extraordinary! Love this restaurant!
by Jennie on July 25, 2018
Great rustic tavern with good food & craft beers in a historic 1746 building. Highly recommend checking it out.
by SanJan22 on July 24, 2018
Love this place. Go there a few times a month. Everyone so nice and accommodating and great food! Bring back the Chicken Marsala and Spicy Green Beans, though!!!!
by OpenTable Diner on July 22, 2018
Enjoyed it as always!! Very cold however. To the point that we were uncomfortable and didn’t fully enjoy as much as we normally do. Also the menus are getting a bit tired and ratty looking. It detracts from the selection when menus are dirty or colored on.

As always, have an enjoyable brunch at Black Powder Tavern--food selection was great, service was friendly and attentive, great value for what's on offer. Highly recommended!

I've been here many times, a "go-to" place for happy hour but gets crowded in the bar area. Good food, craft beer on tap plus wine by the glass. Can be a noisy place.
by Meryl on July 16, 2018
We appreciated the wide ranging menu; excellent food; attentive, upbeat service; and lengthy list of craft beers, including many on tap.
by OpenTable Diner on July 14, 2018
I had a burger, she has hummus. Saturday night and the place was virtually empty by 8:15 PM, maybe it recovered after we left at 9? The burger was good and nicely presented, the humus was OK. Decorated in faux historic documents. Good beer selection and a long wine list, which I did not peruse. Take the kids, have a beer, watch some sports and enjoy a good a burger ($14 and $16 depending upon which one is ordered), prepared as requested. To be fair, I was expecting a more upscale experience with a more varied menu, and maybe some authenticity in the ambiance. It's good for what it is.

Food was good, service minimal. Not enough parking so you are forced to leave your keys with young valets. Skip this place if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing dinner. A very noisy, yelling crowd of diners.
by chowhound on July 13, 2018
Service was top notch. I think the servers name was Eric. Food was disappointing. Had the featured salad that was supposed to be grilled watermelon and shrimp. Shrimp was good - they forgot to grill the watermelon. Plus not much watermelon. Burgers looked good at the other tables. maybe that is your safe bet there.
by MarilynM on July 12, 2018
A place that always comes to mind when friends are getting together. Great yummy food and good choice of wine. The noise level can be a little loud but a booth helps dull it out a bit. Parking can be tight.
by SanJan22 on July 10, 2018
We love this restaurant but PLEASE bring the chicken marsala and the spicy string beans back!
by PaulS on July 8, 2018
This was an excellent restaurant for our post Valley Forge historical tour. Good food, good ambiance and nearby. Most importantly, it was a historical location after visiting a historical landmark.
by JillH on July 7, 2018
Food was good. Atmosphere was a cool looking tavern. Service from the kitchen was very slow. Our waiter would disappear for 15 minutes at a time and we couldn't find him. We would go back hoping the service is quicker.
by TimD on June 29, 2018
Fun waiter, great food, reasonably priced - who could ask for anything more?!?
by OpenTable Diner on June 28, 2018
Love eating here. Convenient location, great food and drinks!
by Sharonie on June 27, 2018
The food was delicious as usual. I decided to try something other than the chicken pot pie, which I think is the best I've ever had. Love the ambiance of a historic tavern. The waiter was exceptionally good. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Will definitely go back again.

Really good food. Decent local beer selection. Attentive service and quick turnaround
by JRL1194 on June 23, 2018
I really can't. A table away was a group of one man , two women and FOUR very small children and two of them were screaming and out of control. I complained but the manager was very weak as was one of the mothers, (I do not know if the man was the father of those two or not but you just don't take 4 kids under 3 years old out on a Sat night and ruin everyone's evening.

Had a lovely Father's Day/Birthday Brunch. Very accomodating as we needed handicap access. Great service & food selection, loved everything we tried...too much to try it all!! Will definitely go back!
by ReginaH on June 14, 2018
We were seated for over 15 minutes watching servers wait on people seated after us. We had to finally flag someone down to take care of us. Then, he had to go find someone else. Not a good experience.
by Macallan on June 9, 2018
Overall a very good experience.

We had great food and great service. I very nice evening

I love Black Powder. It's one of my favorite restaurants in the area! They need to bring back the Chicken Marsala, though!!! Waiters are fabulous ... everyone is very efficient and considerate about making sure everyone is enjoying the food. We appreciate that.
