Despite our reservation, they didn’t have a table and had to wait 15 min. Food is good but not as good as the last time I visited. Also annoying that food comes out “as they get it ready. So in our table of four one person waited 15 minutes for their main course and the other 3 sat and got cold. Our appetizers and wine were good but they forgot one that we ordered (so did we!) and billed us for it. That was when we realized we never received it. Not a sorry or anything from our server. This is a good spot but it is pricey. Not sure it will remain on my list of local favorites.

We celebrated a friend birthday at District and it left such an impression on all of us! The server, Torii, was amazing and made my friend’s birthday one of the best she’s ever had! The food was also amazing, the oyster happy hour being our favorite! Would recommend this to anyone looking to celebrate an event or just chill with friends!

Service was bad because they were short staffed. Servers were overwhelmed and rude.

Made a reservation, table wasn’t ready until 1 hr later, had to return 2 drinks to the bar as they tasted horrible

Fun and tasty

Had a bit of a wait to order a drink but the staff - starting with the bartender - really went above and beyond to make up for it. Will definitely go back but just not on a Friday night during happy hour.

We were seated at a table but never received any service. Waited about 20 minutes before we left
by OpenTable Diner on January 19, 2018
our service was poor. we went on Restaurant Week Oakland and we felt our server was trying too hard to impress with her knowledge of the menu, but did not listen to what we wanted, which caused us confusion about our ordering.

The food was fine, but the poor service ruined my dinner. I waited 20 minutes for the server to take my order, and finally had to flag her down and asked her if I could order. She never once checked on me to see if I was satisfied with my dinner, and I had to repeat the same 20 minute wait and request process for the check. Not happy.

Food was very good, interesting combinations especially cauliflower & kale salad. Crowd was diverse. Service timing was off and server did not know the wine list. Food was worth the wait and price but we probably won't drive across the east bay for a second time.

I hosted my cousin's 37th birthday, it was so fun. The music was jamming, the food flavorful, and the drinks were tasty. Overall a wonderful experience...

I really enjoyed my time at District! The Southern-style brunch food was delicious. Specifically, the biscuits and country gravy. Finding a great mixture of the two in California is hard, but these were just right. The bread pudding was also fantastic with the caramel and whip. Service could be slightly more attentive, but it didn't put a damper on our good time during brunch. The place was packed, and that's for a great reason!

The food and wine pairings were delicious. I love the atmosphere. Our waitress was a little over bearing with the directions on how to taste the bourbon, but other that, it was fabulous!

Didn't catch her name but the sorta red headed server was absolutely wonderful clearly loves her Job and had a wonderful knowledge of whiskey. Also great happy hour the oysters were great

Very friendly, helpful staff. We probably lucked out on a pretty quiet evening, I would bet this place can get noisy. Excellent food, knowledgeable server - Thank you!

loved the table we sat at which had a turn table in it

Always a good time here. It was crazy busy, so the food took longer than usual, but our server did a great job of getting us drinks. Food was delicious as usual too.

Sunday brunch was a bust. Staff was very friendly and attentive but food was bad and overpriced. Cold eggs, cold potatoes, cold biscuits from buffet despite being first guests in the door. Coffee not yet brewed, and no tea on the menu. All for $22 plus $5 for the coffee. Too bad.
by OpenTable Diner on December 02, 2017
Disappointing small portions you had to buy several of anything to start to feel satisfied. Menu not clear about size of dishes so it's a guessing game - not pleased we had to eat again right after our concert event :-(

The District-Oakland is in a wonderful place and I loved the music that was playing. The wine I had was good. They need a new menu, more comfort foods. they need to remember that people are drinking and you need food to hold all that alcohol. It is a great place to come.

We stopped here for a pre-game brunch and had the best time! Great service, awesome food, and excellent drinks! Would recommend making a reservation, as they fill up quickly.
by EBmama8 on November 12, 2017
Did the buffet lunch; food flavorful and fresh tasting, with the exception of the sausages and some weird mystery curry (unlabeled). No fancy coffee— just drip, which is a shame. Overall a pleasant experience and would go back for brunch. Not really suitable for kids.

I attended Sunday Brunch 11/12/17 with 6 other women to celebrate my friends birthday. I only reserved a table for 2 but the Manager was nice enough to accommodate the last minute change. Jason the host greeted us and was attentive and polite. The food was great and the bottomless mimosa were Awesome!!! We arrived at 11am and left at 2:30pm. We had such a blast we didn't even realize so much time had gone by. The staff went above and beyond to make my party feel special! The level of service exceeded my expectations and I will definitely return. The bday girl left saying this the was the best idea and the best bday ever!!! The other Patrons were friendly and I was really impressed with the effort put in the make us feel at home. I love this spot!! Great job you guys!!! I really appreciate such a wonderful experience!!!

Had a great time. Great food and drink! Alec was awesome! Would go again.

Excellent brunch, the menu doesn't really change, and that's a good thing!

I had an awful experience here. Went for a friend's birthday dinner with a party of 7. We ordered drinks and then were left unattended for an hour even though we informed staff multiple times we were ready to order. We finally decided to pay for the drinks and leave to have dinner elsewhere. When we got the bill, gratuity was included and there was no apology whatsoever for the awful service. I would never return.

I brought a dozen of my colleagues here and we had a really nice time mingling on the couches rather than sitting still at a table. The food was easy and filling, while the wine list and cocktails rocked.

The service was aweful, we were seated 30 minutes before someone (bus person) came to our table and we had to ask for water. The waiter came over to tell us they were really busy and short staffed. The first thing we ordered they were out of. There were a group of young men at the bar and they were extremely loud in a already loud place! None tried to make amends. The place should have a big sign that says "no one over 25 is welcomed!". The food was ok.

Great food and great service. What more can you ask for!

The District has more of a Lounge feel then a restaurant. Food was tasty but staff was a little overwhelmed with keeping up with buffet trays being empty. Mimosas were good and quite a variety too. Service was good and pleasant.

We had dinner with our son who lives and works in Oakland. This place was perfect with great background music, excellent drink choices, and variety of food options. The ambiance was relaxing and comfortable...The table was ours for the evening and there was no rush to leave for another party after us.....definitely will be back...
by OpenTable Diner on August 17, 2017
Food was good, yet was brought out at staggered times which is not what we requested. Made dining a little awkward because they're small plates...
by SRomero on August 16, 2017
Interesting venue in a lively Oakland neighborhood. The live jazz was great and the drink menu had some good choices available. The bill does add up quickly, but it's worth a visit. The music and service were better than the food.

One of my fave spots for happy hour and hang-outs.
by Dan21 on July 03, 2017
Really enjoyed our meal at District! The food was excellent, and the service very good. We went on a Monday evening, so things were slow and quiet. I could see how a busy night could impact service and ambience (noise level). Still, a great find in Oakland and we will go back!

Not a place where you want to go if your hungry ( The food is mediocre) however the music, the people, and the drinks were phenomenal.

it was excellent .......love every minute of it.. will be coming back again with friends and family

I made the reservation a week before and I emailed them and called everyday leading up to my reservation to change to a bigger table because I was expecting more then 8 people. I walked down to the bar and it was closed but I could clearly see kids running around and adults drinking at the bar. The employees acted like they didn't see me standing there at the door trying to get their attention. I stood outside for about 5 mins until I decided to call while I stood out there. A female answered the phone and I told her I was outside and I just wanted to see the area we would be in or if we could get a bigger table. She ignored my question to come inside. I asked her again and at this point I was annoyed that she wouldn't let me look at the place. I was the first one to show up and the last to leave. Food was gross and drinks we overpriced for "happy hour" I have a feeling 18 black people isn't what they wanted in their bar. We could all feel our server didn't like us or try to engage in conversation , she kept rolling her eyes every time we ordered something else. I was just over it. I walked to the rest room where I could hear OUR SERVER calling our table the black table or all the black people !!!! If you aren't business professional and black they don't want you in there. We spent over 500 on the bill with a big tip!! I won't be coming here ever again!!

Good enough, all around. Just wish they had more bathrooms.

The Sunday brunch at District is fantastic. The first time I went I was a bit hesitant because I heard it was a buffet. Buffet makes me think lesser quality. This is certainly not the case with District. Their ceviche is delicious! Biscuits and gravy were on point and do not miss their greens and homemade spicy chicken sausage. The food is quality, the staff were great and they didn't skimp on the mimosas. :)

Food & atmosphere were not an issue, the service & wait staff that started off amazing, but crashed & burned at our expense. After poor service we were told that the bar wanted to comp shots. Little did we know the waitress was included in this round of drinks but we were billed for her shot with gratuity included because of the 7 person party. Of course the restaurant wasn't supposed to know about this. It's unfortunate because we were with family, celebrating a birthday and late Mother's Day gift. Not sure I will ever recommend this place to anyone.

Very nice oysters. Stuffed black figs good. Menu is especially suited to those, like me, who prefer a light meal in the evening.
by OAKPDX on May 20, 2017
Nice looking menu, cute area. However, definitely a bar, with only a few tables, and mostly couches. They seem very understaffed (though it wasn't full, it was busy), and took 15 minutes to find someone to see if they had our reservation. We then ordered a 1/2 dozen oysters, drinks, and fries. We got our drinks promptly, and they were quite nice, and the fries perhaps 45 minutes later. However, After three times talking to the waitress, and 1.5 hours, never got the oysters. Not sure we'd go back unless they get a few more servers.

Sorry, I was not happy with the food. Wanted something more than lettuce for a salad. I felt it was over priced for what was served.

i WENT WITH FAMILY AND MY 90 YEAR OLD MOTHER FOR DINNER, IT WAS NOT FOR US, WITHOUT HER AND JUST FAMILY AND FRIENDS HANGING OUT EXCELLENT. Sorry did not know about the place and its atmosphere.

We came here in the late afternoon after a local concert and were blown away by the delicious dishes. Everything was tasty and inventive. We like small dishes. Among the ones we got were fennel salad, Brussels sprouts, beef sliders, lamb meat balls. We ordered the house wine (1 white and 1 red) but were good. We came in around 6pm on a Saturday evening and the place was mellow. It's a good space and I imagine that it's jumping later in the evening!

Happy hour menu- oysters extremely tiny with no flavor. Honesty they were a thin membrane. Prosciutto fig app- gross. Champagne served cold.
