We had a lovely and festive anniversary dinner. Two couples: same wedding anniversary date!
I was disappointed that we could not get a table on the ground level, even though I had made the request well in advance, and there were several empty tables when we arrived.
by Jessica1347 on October 20, 2017
it was ok! I feel that the food was a little overpriced (a cuban sandwich is $21 as well for a simlpe burger) I went with my mom and daughter and we sat by a corner wich I felt because we had a child.. would I go again?? maybe in the summer! We do have money left over in out gift card so you know you cant let that go to waste..

Great food, great service, and great views!
Triple crown, Baby!!!

The salmon dish was very nicely prepared--sauces are really special. Nice touch of tiny cookie/chocolate at the end of meal. Cocktails are always good. Lots of special food requests-- Not one mistake. Totally pleasant experience.
by icaneat on September 21, 2017
Still beautifully situated, still has a caring and responsive staff, but the food has really become mediocre and confused; wine by the glass had been opened way too long...would have sent mine back but had already sent back another, so just let it go. Disappointing.

There's no place better than the patio of the Red Hat on a beautiful fall evening. The service was appropriately paced and we enjoyed the sunset along with the food. The seasonal specials, especially the sweet corn soup, were excellent.
by OpenTable Diner on September 14, 2017
food was as always very good--the shrimp roll was great!

Outside seating, beautiful view of Hudson River. Food was not great- cod was dry, strip steak overcooked.
by Picky on June 30, 2017
Relaxing and delicious
by OpenTable Diner on June 29, 2017
Such a lovely place with great food and fabulous view of the Hudson. Perfect for special occasions.
by Sal77 on June 28, 2017
We were there for a midweek lunch. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals - I had a quinoa burger and it was excellent - I would certainly order it again. We also had a nice bottle of wine and found the service to be strong and pleasant. If you want to be seated outside, you should probably speak with someone to make that known before arriving. On nice days, it looks to be a hard table to get... Definitely plan to get back soon -

Food was ok, but unremarkable. Oh, but the view!!! Vavavoom!
by OpenTable Diner on June 16, 2017
My experience was great even though Mother Nature did not cooperate with the rainy weather. I see myself going back and taking friends.

The service at Red Hat was amazing. Our drinks were done perfectly... an old fashioned and another whiskey special that I cannot remember the name of... but SO good. I have Celiac Disease and cannot eat gluten. I am often left with very few choices but the waiter spoke with the chef, who must have understood celiac, and came back with many options for me. He even made some homemade tortillas for my appetizer! I had a huge plate of the most tender mussels with French fries (which were not cross contaminated in a fryer with other food) and my husband had the short ribs which he said were the best he's had (and he gets them everywhere)! The setting is beautiful, right on the Hudson and though it was raining outside, our view was gorgeous. I can't wait to go back.

As always, great service and delicious food.
by OpenTable Diner on June 03, 2017
Very good dinner, but not 4 star. The service was great. It was too windy to eat outside but we had a nice view of the Hudson . I'd go again, but thought the food was just average.
by TGGapa on May 31, 2017
just so so all around. Great views but..otherwise just fair.
by Gbcopy on May 12, 2017
Delicious food, and great atmosphere with a beautiful river view. Our server was attentive and timed everything perfectly. We had a wonderful evening. Will come back again soon.
by Idey16 on May 12, 2017
Usually go to this restaurant for special occasions. Although I love the food and the ambience
The prices are very expensive. The service could be better also. Our waitress started out good taking our order but then never really came back. We had to flag down other wait staff to get dessert and our check. That's not the only time this has happened with this particular waitress.
by SagHarborGirl on May 11, 2017
The views- inside and outside-coupled with the creative menu can't be beat!

Fantastic evening with Mom re-visiting her New York City roots. View was unbelievable, waiter was excellent/offered a second free dessert/food was delicious. Loved the entire atmosphere, and the free parking. Will definitely return.
by NewYorkLady on April 09, 2017
Extremely inattentive and forgetful waitstaff. They forgot 3 separate orders from our two-person table, didn't refill water very often, and hardly checked in. They just kept walking back and forth past our table without stopping.
by october6 on April 09, 2017
Sadly, our dining experience was not nearly as good as in the past... overall our meal was big disappointment. Red Hat was always EXCEPTIONAL and this time around... it just was NOT good, and definitely not up to par. Our food was not great (we ordered apps and entrees), the quality was average, at best. The service was scattered and slow, at times. It also appears as though they are cutting corners... little details have been eliminated and it's just not as special anymore. We love this restaurant and hope that they turn it around!
by Roberto on April 09, 2017
you haven't been --try it out --Brunch was good stay away from the homo and eggs they were cold --the rest was acceptable --great scenes --nice staff --get ready to return your dish and perhaps they can do it really right --GOOD LUCK
by Armi58 on April 07, 2017
Food was great
My party of three got: onion soup, tuna tartare and a simple salad as appetizers
Mussels, ricotta raviolis, and a chicken sandwich as main course and everything was cooked perfectly
The service was very good too, very attentive
Wine list not very extensive, but with some good choices and reasonable prices.
We will certainly go back when the weather will allow to enjoy the outdoor seating

Great dinner and nice services st red hat including a birthday cake with candles for dessert.

Great food, fantastic service and awesome Hudson river views. Everything we ordered was done perfectly.

Wonderful as always: sumptuous food, excellent wines, great ambience, spectacular views, attentive service.
by Lovesblue on March 29, 2017
Lovely place, we celebrated a birthday. The staff was accommodating in every way. Tables are graciously sized and spaced. Adult atmosphere. We were there early so don't know how noisy it might be later on. Delicious food, perfectly prepared and served. We intend to give it a try for a brunch very soon.
by Foodie on March 29, 2017
Had a lovely lunch with a long time girlfriend.Very relaxing and there was enough diversity on the menu to please both of us. View lovely from the upstairs room, which is a little quieter than the downstairs one, which is a good thing. Will definitely return.
by OpenTable Diner on March 28, 2017
Service and food was excellent, as usual!
by OpenTable Diner on March 28, 2017
The server was very friendly and efficient. Loved the food but thought that the portions were somewhat small for the price. The view was spectacular.
by OpenTable Diner on March 26, 2017
I met my cousin there on Sunday afternoon. We had not seen each other in a long time and were so glad they did not rush us out of the restaurant! As a matter of fact, they never bothered us after they left the check! Food was fantastic, views were amazing! I drove over an hour to get there and every minute was worth it! Already planning our next visit!
by OpenTable Diner on March 24, 2017
What happens to a better than average neighborhood gem after a couple of years of very good reviews from The NY Times and local magazines? The prices get higher, the kitchen gets busier, and the food suffers. Thus, my one-time local favorite, which has long been on my top 10 list, has been scratched from the list. The setting and service are still top notch, but the food no longer lives up to the once deserved reviews.
by dinesalot on March 23, 2017
We began our get away weekend at the Red Hat. A quaint setting overlooking the Hudson River. I had the Swordfish which was perfect. My wife had a chutney garnished chicken dish that she is still raving about. But she says it was second to her espresso martini. A bit pricey but worth every penny. Highly recommend!
by OpenTable Diner on March 22, 2017
The menu seems pretentious to me. It is a beautifully located restaurant and service is good. I don't care much for the food choices.
by NYEats on March 17, 2017
I came here with my husband and some friends because we wanted to check out the Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. Unfortunately we were unable to try it because they only have it from Sun-Thu and we came on a Friday. The woman who called to confirm my reservation was rude but the staff at the restaurant was nice and friendly. The view is amazing- very peaceful, I think! The food was alright. I wasn't a big fan of the entrees but I loved the apps! I highly recommend the Tuna Tartar and the Crab Cakes.
by OpenTable Diner on March 17, 2017
Red Hat is always great.

Looking forward to summer drinks on the roof! Perfect location, thoughtful menu. First time there...Won't be last.
by OpenTable Diner on March 11, 2017
All four of us raved about our meals. It was so hard to choose, but I finally decided on the pork chop, and it was huge and cooked perfectly. Its sides were perfect. Dessert was heavenly. Great view and great ambiance.
by OpenTable Diner on March 10, 2017
We went to Red Hat on the River for lunch with our son who was home from out of town. The food was excellent, the ambience was relaxed, and the noise level was low. We will be back!
by Lsales on March 09, 2017
I've been here many times before and was shocked how poor the food was. And I wasn't the only one. The table to the left and right had the same reaction. My friends soup was cold. My pate had absolutely no flavor. My steak barely ok and fries cold and my friends mussels flavorless. Both tables had ha similar experiences except add a hair in their dessert. It took forever to order to dessert, find someone to clear the table or bring a check. Not coming back
by JudyB on March 09, 2017
Love this place!! Food, service, ambience -- always great! Terrific rolls, but you have to ask for them😉
by TheHoney on March 09, 2017
Another good Restaurant Week lunch. The onion soup was the best I have ever had. Unfortunately my mussel broth was tasteless & watery. My husband's duck rillette was excellent & brussel sprout salad topped by an egg, he found interesting. Our desserts were very good. Hope to visit again soon.

Amazing view, consistent phenomenal food and attentive waitstaff. I surprised my girlfriend for her 65th birthday and brought her to Red Hat for lunch. She thoroughly enjoyed the experience and wants to come back with her friends and family too.
by Serious4food on February 07, 2017
I had the Brussels sprout and fried egg salad, yummy!
