Ambiance very trendy and cool vibe (of course in a W Hotel). The Jellyfish tank is amazing. The seafood platter was great, sides were really good. Steaks were somewhat disappointing. The 40 day dry age sirloin was in some cases under cooked, some cases overcooked and fattier than expected. The filet mignons were tender and juicy but lacked flavor. At the usual upscale "steak house prices" the steaks should have been better.

Waiter very knowledgeable and interesting. First class server. Think name Richard or Robert Goldman.

Great food, Service on the beach. Great location.

Visited here after our cruise docked for Sunday brunch, and to kill some time before our flight. Outstanding food, and nice outdoor seating right on the ocean. Spicy bloody Mary’s, good mimosas, and short rib eggs Benedict. Highly recommended!

I had a reservation for 2, to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. 1. it was a rare cold night in south florida, and the restaurant was freezing. everyone was eating with their coats on. 2. they didn’t have truffle mashed potatoes that night. how do you NOT have items on your menu on a saturday evening with the prices you charge? I feel bad for everyone who went to dine there on Sunday, if they’re already running out of food on a saturday. 3. We waited almost 40mins for our food to arrive, the only thing that was warm was our fries lol. we didn’t come here for fries, so we were disappointed to say the least. Steaks were burnt, over cooked and cold. but it wasn’t worth it to send it back after already freezing for 30mins to get it. We ate our fries, took our steaks to go, paid and left. If this is how it is normally, it’s not worth the money. and especially not if you go in big groups. they bring your food out all at once and i know for a fact their food was cold, if a meal for 2 was cold. The only good thing about this place is the jellyfish tank.... that’s about it. I wouldn’t return to this establishment.

Food was great, but for the price, the service was borderline average due to the pace of courses. Drinks took a considerable amount of time to hit the table, 10 minute gap between appetizer and salads, followed by longer gap for main course. Servers appeared to be overstretched with tables. A runner for food and drinks would of been invaluable. Hard to pay 300 for dinner for two with these issues. Server was polite and well knowledgeable and ambiance was great, unbalanced table and all.

Food took a very long time!!! Like 2 hours!!
by OpenTable Diner on January 13, 2018
Delicious food, but the service was inconceivably slow for a place as pricey and upscale. i might go back, but only if I had three hours for dinner...

Always my go-to for dinner when I visit from NY and stay at the W Fort Lauderdale. Food, wine and service (thank you, Jerome) was on point... the heat lamps outside were the perfect touch to enjoy our meal outside. Loved the trio of ice cream sandwiches for dessert too!

Dinner at the FT Lauderdale location is beautiful, it’s right across the street from the ocean. Dinner and the whole experience there from the humongous jelly fish tank, amazing service and the best steak I’ve had. You will not go wrong with the Wagyu steak or any Dry aged 40 day steak. I will defiantly be back.

I had a pretty poor experience as a single diner at the bar. I came down at 6:15 after the restaurant had opened, however there was a lot of commotion amongst the staff, including improper uniforms and loud conversations. The lighting was very bright as well. To make things a bit worse, there is a private dining room behind the bar where two staff members were discussing their credit card debt and partners spending habits. The f word and s word were used so frequently I had to get up myself and ask them to please watch their language while I was having dinner. They were surprised, then apologetic. They certainly came by the bar a few times and saw a diner sitting there, you think they would have used better judgment. Same goes for the bar staff who witnessed the same. No real service recovery was offered. On my way out of the restaurant there were three people at the host stand who didn't say anything until I was already out the door and one girl say thank you. Odd interactions for a prime steakhouse. Food was mediocre at best -- I had the sliders and wedge salad.

What a wonderful evening! The service was impeccable - we especially were appreciative of the explanations of different forms of preparation - spicy, etc. A beautiful venue inside and out. An unbelievably tasty steak, prepared without a lot of seasoning or sauce, just cooked perfectly!
by OpenTable Diner on January 06, 2018
Everything was perfect. We had the scallops for starters, filet for our entree, and the chocolate custard for dessert. Oh, and I can’t forget the La Poire Fizz cocktail! Outstanding and romantic.

Arrived at 8:30, by 9:55 our entrees arrived after waiting for more than 25min after finishing our appetizers. We returned 2 plates (cold lobster bisque and over cooked steak) Service was VERY slow. No attention to detail. Extremely expensive for what you get. NOT RECOMENDABLE
by OpenTable Diner on January 05, 2018
Great experience, the attention to detail was amazing. The place had jelly fish for days!

Great Restaurant, steaks were best ever. Great selection of wines.

First of all, we had reservations and were told to wait to be seated this alone was 15mins while others who were walking in after us were seated immediately. Then were placed in placed in a booth seating which i would consider more of family style seating. We had the business men on the left and the gentlemen on the right who sure to use the f*** word in every sentence and they were the loudest people in the restaurant. The food was ok, yes just ok. Drinks were extremely watered down and little to no alcohol. The birthday red velvet cupcake was probably the highlight of the whole afternoon for me and my husband. The waiter was great and did a great job at ensuring we were well taken care of. But will I be returning? That’s a no for me.

The Steak, Oysters, Stuffed Hash Browns, Creamed Spinach, and Red Velet Cup Cake was the best of each. We have eaten at Capital Grill, Truluck, Gibson’s, and Perry’s in the last three weeks and Steak 954 was the best.
by RegularChicagoDiner on January 03, 2018
Hostess seemed bored or annoyed. Waiter was great. Steak was fatty. Martinis were excellent. Great oysters. Mixed.
by OpenTable Diner on January 01, 2018
Great food, we are from Las Vegas and it was hard to find a great steak while away, but this restaurant delivered an amazing steak just like Las Vegas. And the Poppers are to die for!
by AnnaKarin on January 01, 2018
Ok. Great steak. A little bit overpriced (but we’re from Sweden). Chilli outside and Darek outside. Overall ok. Steak very good.

Unfortunately it’s not the same 954 Steak that we’ve experienced in the past. It took forever to get our meal and they still forgot items we ordered. We tried twice over New Years weekend and it wasn’t any better the second time. We eat at every Starr Restaurant in NYC & FL, so I’m a little disappointed at 954. Keep in mind we’ll try again in the near future....

We had 13 in our party on New Year's Day. The menu selection pleased everyone ... from those who wanted breakfast food to those who wanted a burger or a steak. The service by Renee and Marti was impeccable. Unbelievably, all 13 meals arrived within a one minute timeframe and everyone was very pleased with the menu selection.
by JoseAntoinette on December 31, 2017
Steak was way too salty I get it the kosher salt on a the steak but must of been salted twice.

My boyfriend and I had dinner here on NYE and had a really nice experience. When we arrived I casually mentioned that I had a headache and wondered if the hotel had a gift shop on premise where I could purchase aspirin. Right away the manager brought me individually packed aspirin and a glass of water while we waited for our table (less than 5 minutes). Our waitress was extremely friendly and offered to take our photo as we were celebrating NYE. The restaurant was very lively, but we were seated in an intimate, romantic spot which was perfect. The food was great (especially loved the chopped salad and the Dry aged NY strip, the lobster ceviche was a bit fishy) but overall the attentiveness of the staff really made for a great experience.

Always great! Our favorite go to spot on the beach. Great food and service in a lovely environment. Lovely ocean views.

Fantastic experience! Service was excellent. Our server (can't remember his name) was extremely knowledgeable. He gave us excellent recommendations for dinner. The rustic apple tart, EXCELLENT! The Ribeye, EXCELLENT! The creamed spinach and asparagus, EXCELLENT!

We waited much too long for our food . Yes the food was quite tasty but the wait was just too long . Love the ambiance .
by OpenTable Diner on December 29, 2017
Service was very very slow even though the restaurant was half empty. Food was ok but not great.

It was awesome having my breakfast at Steak 954. The view was great and my waiter did not skip a beat. For my first time there it will not be my last. Great job staff I felt welcomed from beginning to the very end.
by OpenTable Diner on December 28, 2017
Waited far too long for our food. You spend this kind of money for food, expectations were not met. Nothing was at the proper temp, very disappointed.
by OpenTable Diner on December 28, 2017
Not impressed with food for the price. Ambiance is nice, but steak was so salty it was like beef jerky.
by ocean on December 26, 2017
Service was outstanding. The outdoor patio dining was excellent, but a bit on the dark side.
by Chaser on December 25, 2017
Great food and over the top service The restaurant is very spacious with stunning ocean views. The bar is the perfect place to start your great evening.
by OpenTable Diner on December 25, 2017
A frequent favorite but this meal was void of memory and good taste. I’d rather forget I had Christmas lunch there. Lackluster food, irrational service and a big ticket to serve as dessert. Ho Ho Ho
by OpenTable Diner on December 24, 2017
We picked this place for Christmas Dinner and we thought would be the best. The service was not good and meats arrived cold. Food was good but I thought be better.
by OpenTable Diner on December 24, 2017
Beautiful place, great vibe, good food, mediocre service for such a high end place. Went 20-30 minutes without seeing a waiter. Dropped off the sharing plates, then we wait another 25 minutes for the entree? They also keep the temperature at 70, couldn’t warm it so handed out blankets so obviously been going on for a while. Not a high end steakhouse experience. ...
by Flora on December 24, 2017
The meat was just perfect but all the side dishes, vegebles , gratin, french fries were too salted.
by OpenTable Diner on December 23, 2017
great staff and service. valet parking was very unorganized

Went for birthday celebration
by Oneofthels on December 19, 2017
Terrific choice on the beach for lunch, dinner or drinks. Great menu, food and service. Will definitely return. Of course it’s a little pricey but who cares, the view and people watching make up for it.
by Discriminating123 on December 17, 2017
The service was excellent. The seafood platter for 2 was superior . The steak was succulent and the sides were delicious except the rock shrimp Mac and cheese was not good. Jerome our server tried very hard to please us and he did. We made reservations when we return to ft lauderdale .
by OpenTable Diner on December 16, 2017
The food (steak) was amazing, our server, Stephanie, was super fun and knowledgeable making for a very special evening celebrating my husband's birthday with our friends- complete with Stephanie taking our picture by the jellyfish tank. This place NEVER disappoints!!!! SO. WORTH. IT.
by Osfares on December 16, 2017
Our server Stephanie went above and beyond our expectations. She help me make my anniversary memorable. The manager offered us champagne on the house to celebrate (he even offered us a cup with Sprite for my son so he can toast too), the server gave us dessert on the house (red velvet cupcake) in a beautiful presentation in a plate with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. Oh and great steaks, perfectly cooked. I will definitely go back.
by OpenTable Diner on December 15, 2017
really enjoyed my meal; chopped salad, cod, mushroom + brussel sprout side dishes... our waiter was a total sweetness and very friendly.
by Kevin on December 15, 2017
Come here quite frequently and usually have a good experience, however this particular time wasn’t too pleasant. Our food didn’t taste good at all. Steak had a bad iron taste, sides weren’t good and to top it off, the new valet at the W hotel is absolutely horrible. No lie, waited 40 minutes to get my car after dinner. They told me they would make it up to me, but I’ve never heard from them since. I know that’s not the restaurants fault, but felt like that needed to be said in this review since you basically have to valet to eat at this restaurant.
